Superhero Drawers - Pine chest of drawers upcycle

I've had these basic pine drawers from Argos for years. They have previously been in my room, but when I moved I didn't want them and poor Evan had a lack of furniture for his room so he had them.

As Evan's room has a superhero theme I started looking on Pinterest for inspiration. After some searching I decided on doing decoupage for the drawer fronts and paint the rest of the unit. Evan's room is blue and most accessories he currently has are blue, white and red. I had already done his toy chest in green (to tie in the Hulk), so decided on red with blue handles for the paint.

For the unit I lightly keyed the surface with sand paper, and primed. Once the surface was prepped I painted with B&Q Quick dry Gloss in classic red. Below is the unit with two coats on.

I then moved onto doing the drawer knobs. Once removed from the drawer I just sprayed with B&Q primer and then I used 2 x coats of Rustoleum Painters Touch in Brilliant Blue.

For the drawers I used Marvel wrapping paper and cut 5 piece to size for the drawer fronts (making sure I have enough to fold over the edges). I used Evo-Stik Multi purpose contact adhesive to stick the paper to the drawers. You spray onto both surfaces, leave a few minutes and then put them together. I used a mini foam roller to make sure it went on crease free.

Once this was dry, I trimmed the corners and side, and stuck these down with the same process. I then sealed with Modge Podge gloss finish.

And here are the drawers complete. I am so happy with them and please with how they have turned out!

I will show full pictures of Evans room once I finish his toy box this weekend.

Thanks
